My Internship Journey at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia

Since 2021, which is my second year in college, I've told my brother that I want to be an intern at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Indonesia *just like how all International Relations student wish. He said that I should prepare the document and stuff as soon as possible since there must be a great number of people who want to intern there. Then, come to my mind that probably I could not make it since I think the selection process must be complicated.

However, fast forward to the 6th semester, and luckily, my senior who already get accepted at MoFA said that he has a contact at MoFA if I want to intern there and I said that I want his contact. Hence, I contacted one of the work units in MoFA which is called Badan Strategi Kebijakan Luar Negeri (BSKLN) and I send the required documents to him. The documents consist of The Cover Letter, Reference Letter from campus, Academic Transcript, and CV.

After two months of waiting for the coordinator to inform me whether I can intern at MoFA or not, finally, in August 2022, he contacted me and ask whether I still want to intern there or not, and obviously, I said yes I still want to intern there. He contacted me one week before the day he asked me to work. I was extremely excited at that time.

Nevertheless, one day before I was supposed to work, I confirm again with the internship coordinator at MoFA, however, he said that he forgot to input my name into the list in August. No doubt I was highly disappointed at that time since I waited for so long to intern there. He apologizes for the inconvenience and I also said that it was fine although it was not. He then said that he will put my name on the October list and I said "okay then".

I was a little bit worried since I've witnessed all of my friends get an internship since August and I still got nothing. I have applied to other companies in case I did not get to intern at MoFA. Most of them didn't work, nowadays people call it "NT (Nice Try)".

However, finally, in October, I made it. I get an internship at MoFA in the work unit that I've been dreaming of and it's at the best timing. It is because from August until September, I was busy taking responsibility as the Chairperson of my organization and if I work at the same time, I think my performance will not at its maximum. Couldn't be more grateful for all of the plans that God has made.

One step forward to achieving my other dreams! Cheers for many golden opportunities ahead everyone!
